![]() ![]() They then travel through a handful of licensed Simpsons games before confronting their creator in an attempt to stop the flood of cheap merchandise bearing their names. ![]() For the past few weeks, there was talk that EA had removed the Grand Theft Auto-parodying GTS portions of the game for fear of legal action by Rockstar, but don't worry - there are plenty of mice dressed as pimps in this game.Īs you get further into the game, the Simpsons travel into the game engine where they witness EA's creative process (look for the zero-reading innovation meters) and face off against a famous game designer. Each of them vows to use their new game-given powers to achieve their personal goals: Homer simply wants to eat as much as he can with no ill side effects, Bart decides to play superhero as Bartman, Lisa vows to save the environment, and Marge (with Maggie in tow) sets out to ban the sale of a violent new videogame, Grand Theft Scratchy. Early in the story, the Simpsons learn that they aren't real - they are merely characters in a videogame. There are few games out there as self-referential as this one. The game is also scripted by the show's writers, and it was surprising to find that there were more laughs in the game than in the past few seasons of the series. One big problem with early Simpsons titles was that due to hardware limitations of the time it was difficult to capture the show's unique sense of humor. Although the quality of the games have run the gamut from horrible to pretty darn good, fans just seemed to be happy to take control of Homer for a few hours. Ever since the early '90s we've been inundated with videogames based on " The Simpsons," Matt Groening's beloved cartoon sitcom. ![]()
